Taking Responsibility
As part of a comprehensive package of measures initiated in the beginning of 2023 in response to the results of a study commissioned by the Jung Foundation itself on its founder Ernst Jung and his companies during the National Socialist era, the foundation supports both the Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial and the "endTB-Q" clinical trial by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). In addition, the foundation has established a Fellowship for a medical history thesis, which annually funds a related topic from the National Socialist era at the Institute for History and Ethics of Medicine at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf. A commemorative plaque has also been installed at the entrance of the foundation's building.
Through these measures, the foundation aims to face up to Ernst Jung’s history, assume lasting responsibility, contribute to further examination of the National Socialism period, actively educate people and help those in need.
With the projects "Neuengamme Concentration Camp Memorial," "Médecins Sans Frontières" and the Fellows Scholarship, the foundation has allocated a total of €820,000 to date. Plans are in place to support a subsequent project to utilize the full funding amount of €1,000,000.
